“Great place to stay.” Our condo was on the 2d floor, and we had a nice view of the ocean from the balcony. It was clean and had everything we needed - including a washer and dryer. The beds were comfortable as was the furniture. We ate in a lot and found everything we needed to cook was in good shape and clean. The pools were clean and the beach was fabulous. The waves aren't as big as at Va Beach, but we still had plenty of fun. I was surprised all the places had lights on at night even though the turtles were nesting. This complex was right on the beach -just a short walk away! We will probably be back and hope to stay in the same unit.

“What A View” Clean and great rates! Thoroughly enjoyed the private deck and the views. Loved the fact that the master bedroom had sliding glass doors opening to this deck. What a wonderful way to sleep every night to the sound of the glorious ocean! Loved the island ~ wonderful restaurants and awesome crab legs! Be sure to bring essentials such as toilet paper, paper towels, clothes soap, body soap, linens and towels.

“Fall Delight” I took my elderly mother to spend a few days at the beach. Everything was perfect with a clean, bright condo that had a teapot (yay!), linens supplied, very close to the aquarium, and easy beach access. The weather was lovely for sitting on the deck and listening to the ocean sounds. We loved it and will return! Thanks for sharing this quiet spot with us.

“Carolina Beach 2019” Great OF rental .. Spacious rooms and OF deck My husband loved the quilt in Master BR (ordering similar quilt today ) Reservation process simple with owners excellent to work with Furnishings and appliances very nice and aesthetic We brought my mother, a clean freak, along for vacation her only complaints were the kitchen waste receptacle needed cleaned out and bleached and the windows / doors needed cleaned - she did each day and was quite pleased with the new washer and dryer The only concern long term is the sagging bathroom floors ( in areas floor is very soft ) Would rent again and will very soon as well as recommend

“Charming Home Away From Home” This condo was absolutely charming! It was everything described and more. The condo is beautifully decorated with a beach theme throughout. The condo was quiet, spacious, and yet cozy and perfect for my husband and me. The view from the deck and the master bedroom was incredible. (Be sure to take binoculars so you can enjoy the view and observe the local birds.) We wanted to be able to cook most of our meals, enjoy the beach, visit some local attractions, and have a few nice dinners at local restaurants. We were able to do all that and more. The extra bedroom was a plus as we entertained family several times and the kitchen had everything we needed to make a full dinner for everyone. What a wonderful time we all had! The weather was spectacular and we even enjoyed a full moon. I love the beach, but had never done a beach rental. We were so fortunate that our first rental was with Ellen. To say, she was helpful and just wonderful is an understatement. She made us feel so comfortable about renting, answering our every question, and even called to be sure she had addressed all of our concerns. We could tell she took great pride in her property and made every effort to make it “a home away from home.” Ellen even called after we were there a day or so to be sure everything was OK. Thank you Ellen for making our first beach rental so special. My husband and I had such a lovely time and left with memories that will last us forever. We would definitely stay here again!! Gayle

“Excellent family rental” Home was extremely nice and just as pictured online. It is also located within walking distance of several good restaurants and the beach. The owner was also easy to reach and responded in a very timely fashion with any questions that I had.

About Wrightsville Beach

Sitting in the county of New Hanover, Wrightsville Beach measures four miles long and has its own 'inner' island. It began life as the location of a yacht club back in 1884 and became a town in 1899, named after a local family on the mainland.

Both the beach and the water comprise the venues for numerous beach sporting activities such as Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Competitions, Water Surfing camps and even a Beach Treasure Hunt for the little ones. It’s definitely the place to come if you're in to watersports.

The town is also host to a water bird sanctuary and has a fitness trail for trekkers which incorporates the smaller island. There's a shopping village and local museum, as well as organized cruises along the waterways between Wrightsville and the neighboring island.

As you'd expect with an upmarket resort, there are plenty of impressive restaurants as well as night spots for those devout beach loungers to finally get rid of some energy.

What to do in Wrightsville, North Carolina

Take a horse-drawn carriage tour of Wilmington Historic District in order to get really into the past. If that's too expensive then opt for a trolley car, boat or walk (be warned though—it's 230 blocks long).

Go on a kayak expedition through the local streams and rivers. En-route, you can do a spot of bird and wildlife watching.

Go beachcombing on Masonboro Island—8.4 miles of unpopulated beach—in order to pick up some truly spectacular shells, driftwood and even sea glass. Get there by boat, kayak, water taxi or via a shelling cruise (of which there are many you can book).

A trip to Wrightsville Beach just wouldn't be complete without a bracing walk along Johnnie Mercer’s pier. Jutting into the ocean for around 1200 feet, you can watch fishermen land their catch and enjoy an ice cream in the cafe on the way back.

Top travel tips for Wrightsville Beach

Parking at the beach is around $2.50 per hour (or $15 per day) from March 1 to October 31. That's if you can find somewhere to park! Easier to park several miles away and get a taxi into town.

Johnnie Mercer’s pier costs $2 dollars to enter, even in the winter months when the cafe is closed. Get there well before closing time at 11pm.

If you’re traveling with your dog, it’s worth nothing that they’re not allowed on the beach from April 1 to September 30.

The town is incredibly busy in summer, which makes the atmosphere vibrant and fun. But expect to queue at restaurants, cafes and attractions.
