Above The Rivers Edge

Luray log cabin

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 6

“Above the rivers edge” Cabin was nice and clean. There was already firewood available on the property which was convenient. Verizon phone service didn't work too well but AT&T service worked fine. We weren't able to get the gas fireplace to work. The hot tub didn't get very hot. It was warm but I needed to be serviced or repaired. The river being right in the backyard was nice. Regardless we enjoyed our stay.

About Shenandoah

With beautiful scenery, historical sites, and friendly locals, the town of Shenandoah has it all! Walk down 4th Street and sample the best restaurants in Shenandoah, or visit 5th Street for a number of crafts shops and stylish clothing boutiques. The historical attractions and outdoor sporting options are scattered throughout town, so be sure to explore the entire area to discover Shenandoah's hidden gems.

Here are a few suggestions for things to do in Shenandoah:

  • Shenandoah National Park: Running along the Blue Ridge Mountains, this popular park is a great spot for hiking and camping in the area.
  • New Market Battlefield: Visit the museums and state park surrounding the site of a famous Civil War battle.
  • Winchester: The historic district in this town, which was the first colonial town in the area, has been recently restored and features several great cafes and shops.
  • Skyline Drive: Considered to be one of the most scenic routes in the country, this is a great place to take an afternoon drive and enjoy the scenery.

No matter what time of year you visit, there will likely be something going on in Shenandoah. Check out the cars that are nearly 100 years old at the Classic Car Show in May, enjoy the carnivals and pageants that are part of the Apple Blossom Festival in October, or watch the parades and elaborate fireworks displays that are part of the Fourth of July celebrations.

Whether you're looking for a picturesque villa near all the main dining and shopping options in town, or a cozy cabin near the historical sites, there's a vacation rental that will put you exactly where you want to be in Shenandoah. If you have some extra time to explore the surrounding area, Washington D.C, can be reached within an hour by car.

Spotted Fawn Cabin - Luxury Rental Cabin
Lovely Cabin Weekend

Great cabin for medium groups; quiet location near Massanuten, close to D.C too ! We really stayed in the cabin most of the time, but did do a quick trip to Hawkbill Brewery down the street. Would totally stay and recommend to others. … see more
Historic River House
Lovely house, but property management could be improved

We enjoyed our stay in the River House. The house is spacious and nicely decorated throughout. It is in a perfect location looking out over the river and set within a large plot, and was very quiet and peaceful, we saw lots of wildlife. It was also not too far from the National Park. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the hot tub was an added bonus. The only thing that really let us down was the communication from the owner. I emailed a week prior to our visit to ask if there was anything I needed to know about accessing the building and the owner told me the website I booked through should send me something, but to get back to her if it didn’t. I didn’t receive anything, so I emailed again three nights before our arrival date, but I didn’t get a response. I emailed again the evening before, but again no response. I spent the few days before our vacation worrying that there was some kind of problem with our reservation and that I would arrive to find we couldn’t stay at the house. The owner emailed me with the door code the morning of our arrival. We also had a problem with the television and again I had trouble getting hold of the owner which meant we were without the TV for three nights before it was fixed. There is also an A4 sized list of things you need to do prior to check out. I have stayed in many different types of accommodation across the States and in other counties, and this is the most expensive list of pre check out requirements I’ve ever seen! Other than that it would have been nice to have a high chair as feeding our one year old without one was pretty hard going. I’m surprised that somewhere which sleeps six children doesn’t have one. Also there was a pane of glass in one of the double rooms which was cracked. It really made me nervous as the window is only a couple of feet from the floor and with small children I think this is an accident waiting to happen. The house doesn’t have a visitor book, but they do provide comments sheets. I filled one out, but I haven’t heard anything from the owner…see more
River Haven Cabin
My wife and I absolutely loved this place.

My wife and I spent our 30th anniversary here. Peaceful, quiet, relaxing, all the comforts of home at your fingertips. We went on day trips and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Fishing off of the pier, canoeing, very private setting. … see more
